Column NC Series
The machines are capable of basic surface, slot, side face, and profile grinding with optimal straightness, flatness, and mirror finish. The working table executes only longitudinal movements. This ensures full contact and support from the machine bed, even in the table limit position. The guideways on cross and longitudinal axes are laminated with Turcite-B, to guarantee smooth table movement regardless of the load on the table.

LOW-FRICTION COATED SURFACE
Most of the slideways consist of one cast iron precision scrapped surface in contact with a specially designed anti-friction coated surface. The combination of these two precision flat surfaces in contact with each other minimizes the friction dramatically lowering stick/slip. Smooth fluid motion and high wear resistance are added benefits.
PERFECT SCRAPED SURFACE
The surface of longitudinal table ways and saddle ways are all hand scraped by experts to get the perfect contact pattern between the machining surface and to ensure high accuracy.
GUARANTEED STABILITY
A specially designed hydraulic system results in extra smooth table movement, prevent excessive heating of hydraulic oil, and reduces table reversal shock. Coins can be kept on saddle standing balanced on edge during grinding operations attesting to the outstanding smooth operation of PROTH Grinders.
CASTING COMPONENTS
Massive one piece casting design provide a rock solid platform for years of accurate performance. All the main machine casting components, such as base, table, saddle, column, etc., are all annealed twice with particular attention to removing all metallurgical stress.
GRINDING SPINDLE
The precision high rigidity spindle is of cartridge type design. This provide for easier accessibility and service when maintenance is needed. Multiple hi-precision anti-friction axial and radial bearings are utilized specifically designed for absolute minimal play and run-out. Spindles are quiet and vibration free.
LONGITUDINAL TABLE WAYS
The sliding ways of the table are designed to be much longer than the actual working surface of the table top. This keeps the table free from torsion and deflection.
